What is eVentBIO?
eVent BIO uses highly renewable, intelligently sourced castor seeds to create a lightweight, durable and flexible membrane that offers protection from wind, rain and snow in a highly breathable laminate.
They use recycled outer fabrics and backings paired with C0 DWR technology to create a 100% PFC-free waterproof and windproof fabric technology.
From castor to all-season protection
Our bio-based membrane is derived from castor beans, a renewable crop that does not cause deforestation and does not compete with food crops. The castor plants are grown in collaboration with the Pragati Initiative, promoting sustainable agricultural practices in India.
The Pragati Initiative uses good agricultural practices to increase the yield and income of farmers on land that normally cannot support other crops. Castor is an extremely drought-tolerant crop that grows well in arid climates, making it a highly profitable crop for farmers who provide multiple harvests in a single year. Once harvested, the castor beans are crushed to produce castor oil, which is then processed into Arkema's Pebax® Rnew® polymer. This polymer is made up of up to 97% renewable carbon and offers a wide range of flexibility and durometer. The company processes this polymer to create eVent BIO, a recyclable membrane that is resistant to water, wind, chemicals and UV rays, creating an easy transition to sustainable materials in any product line.
Not only is it sustainable, but it works the way you want it to. eVent knows how important it is to stay dry and comfortable, which is why they have extensively tested eVent BIO in the laboratory to provide the best protection for all weather conditions.
